Stage 4 Water Restrictions Begin Nov 4th
The new Bearspaw South Feeder Main is on track to be up and running in December. This is an important step toward a stronger, more reliable water system for our growing city.
To support these final stages of the project, the City needs to temporarily shut down the existing feeder main in order to connect the new pipe to the water system.
During this approximately four-week period, outdoor water restrictions and indoor water conservation measures are needed. Restrictions apply to all residents and businesses since we will be primarily relying on only one water treatment plant to supply Calgary and parts of the region.
Beginning Wednesday, November 4th:
No outdoor water use is permitted
No watering lawns, gardens, flowers, trees or shrubs using City water.
No washing down outdoor surfaces, including exterior building surfaces, windows, sidewalks, driveways or walkways
No filling outdoor pools or hot tubs, decorative features or fountains.
No water use for construction purposes, such as grading, compaction or dust control.
No washing vehicles outdoors
No outdoor snow or ice making.
Practice indoor water conservation
Only run dishwasher and laundry with full loads
Flush toilets only when needed
Take shorter showers (Approx. 3 minutes)
Turn off water to wash hands, brush teeth, shave, etc.
Find and fix leaks
Every Calgarian doing their part to conserve water will help ensure enough water is available for essential needs, including fire fighting, while crews complete these final steps of construction of the new Bearspaw South Feeder Main.
